We created Stop the Stigma as a rally event in 2017 as a way to publicly show support for and hear stories from people who use substances and to highlight the stigma experienced by people who use substances and the barriers it creates for them in accessing health care. It has evolved over the years and since 2020 has shifted into supporting and hosting an event on International Overdose Awareness Day (Aug 31st) to raise awareness of the preventable deaths due to opioid poisoning and advocate for policy change.
