Creating a Place to Remember, Together

person on bench

In 2023, Guelph saw the highest number of fatalities from drug poisoning on record.    Nearly everyone in our community has been touched by drug poisoning.

The Pathways to Remembering Memorial is being built to honour community members whose lives have been lost to drug poisoning.

For individuals and families, the Pathways to Remembering Memorial provides a space for people to grieve and honour their loved one.

For our community, the memorial is a statement to show that each life lost is loved and missed, and community members are actively working towards minimizing the harmful stigma that surrounds substance use.

Ontario Cities Memorialize Drug Poisoning Victims

We Reached Our Fundraising Goal!!! Thank-you!!

The WGDS and partner organizations worked together to reach our fundraising goal. To date, we have reached our $25,000 goal and are currently in the process of working with the City of Guelph to build the memorial. Thank you to the generosity of community donors who understand the impacts of the drug poisoning crisis and helped us reach our goal.  A heartfelt thank you to the City of Guelph for their unwavering support in bringing this project to life, and for their continued care, stewardship, and commitment to preserving the memorial. We extend our sincere thanks to our key partner agencies, as well as OPIRG and Homewood Health, who’s generous donation helped us reach the finish line.

We are grateful to every donor, volunteer, advocate, and family member who has contributed to bring this vision forward. Together, we are creating a lasting place of remembrance — and a stronger, more compassionate community.
