Methadone Treatment & Support

Methadone is useful in the treatment of opioid dependence. Oral doses of methadone can stabilize patients by reducing opioid withdrawal symptoms.  Higher doses of methadone can block the euphoric effects of heroin, morphine, and similar drugs.   As a result, properly dosed methadone patients can reduce or stop altogether their use of these substances.

Methadone treatment is available from the Ontario Addiction Treatment Centre (OATC), with Methadone Case Management and support being made available by Stonehenge Therapeutic Community.  For more information about accessing methadone treatment, use the above link or contact the OATC at 519-822-6100.  For information on the Methadone Case Management program, contact Stonehenge at 837-1470 x 232.
