Stay Sharp Needle Exchange Program

Host Organization: HIV/AIDS Resources & Community Health (ARCH)

Service: Provides harm reduction supplies, naloxone kits, and support for substance users.

Hepatitis C Services

Host Organization: Sanguen Health Centre 

Service: Provides medical services (Dr. Chris Steingart), Nursing Services, social work support, and short-term food supplies.

Specialized Outreach Services

Host Organizations:

Service: Provides outreach services for homeless individuals or individuals at-risk of homelessness by linking these individuals to primary care, income supports, housing supports, transport to medical appointments, etc. Trained team includes nurses, social workers, and addiction counsellors.

Location: Mobile service housed out of Drop-In Centre – Mobile service and/or 23 Gordon St.

 

Shelter Services (age >24)

Host Organization: Drop In Centre 

Service: Provides homeless individuals with a shelter bed and access to basic needs, such as meals, hygiene items, and showers. These emergency shelters offer individuals a safe place to stay as they search for housing and pursue their goals.

Shelter Services (age <24)

Host Organization: Wyndham House

Service: Provides 14 emergency beds and offers life skills training, recreational activities, supportive guidance, and community referrals to the youth staying at the shelter.

Mobile Community Health Van

Host Organization: Sanguen Health Centre

Service: Provides harm reduction supplies, food, clothing, and medical first aid. Trained team includes nurses, social workers, and peer workers.

Location: Mobile Van – weekly scheduled stops at locations such as: Youth Emergency Centre, Royal City Chuch, 90 Carden, Salvation Arm Citadel, etc.

Drug and Alcohol Helpline

Host Organization: DART – Drug and Alcohol Helpline

Service: For individuals 18+, DART provides 24/7 information about drug and alcohol addiction services across Ontario and advises where beds are available.

Supportive Addiction and Mental Health Housing (SAMH)

Host Organization: Stonehenge Therapeutic Community in partnership with The Canadian Mental Health Association – Waterloo Wellington

Service: Provides support for people with complex addiction and concurrent mental health needs who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or who are considered inadequately housed.
